On Saturday, April 29, we collaborated with the Albany Barn to hold our first ever Community Clean Up. This event was special to us because it took place in the historic Arbor Hill neighborhood surrounding our studio. The area is in need of a little community support and love, so we joined together to bring it just what it needed.
We had an awesome group of enthusiastic volunteers ready to work. The group included longtime Compas customers, friends and family from out of town, and several new faces. It was great to join such a wonderful mix of people together to volunteer on a Saturday morning.
In only a few hours we were able to weed, sweep, and remove garbage along three city blocks. After accomplishing the basic clean up, one group of our volunteers took on the task of weeding and landscaping the overgrown flower beds of the North Swan Street Park. A second group took on the task of decluttering garbage that had been collecting over the years on several of the block's vacant properties. Both were major tasks that our team accomplished with an eager and positive attitude.
It's important to remember how valuable a few hours of volunteer work can be. We hope to continue planning and organizing volunteer efforts within our community. We are proud of our home base and are committed to doing our part in the community. Together, we can maintain a clean and safe environment for all to enjoy and love.
We ended the morning with over 15 full 50-gallon garbage bags and more than 20 full lawn refuse bags. Not bad for only 15 people!
(Missing a few volunteers who had to leave a little early. Sorry Guys!)
