Tell us about yourself! Where are you based?
I’m based in Shokan, New York, near the Ashokan Reservoir. Eventually I’d like to make my way out West to Colorado to set new roots!
How long have you been doing photography?
I've been doing photography for the past 6 years now, but shooting freelance for the past 2 years. It all started with a love for taking photos on my phone and just documenting my life and journeys. I've explored many different niches, shooting all sorts of styles like landscape, wildlife, product, wedding, and real estate. But at the end of the day, I enjoy shooting lifestyle and commercial style work. It's my current passion!
What’s your favorite photo that you’ve taken?
Definitely always the hardest question I'm asked in my line of work because of all the journeys I've been on. But to date, one of my all time favorite shots would have to be a photo I took this past Fall at a local spot that I enjoy year round. This shot of Kaaterskill falls is just like any other amongst the rest, but this day was perfect for me. It was a perfect day, the trip up was calm, and the weather was perfect. When I got there it wasn’t crowded at all, just a couple other local photographers taking in the incredible day at the falls, all looking for the same thing: the perfect shot. Being there with my camera and taking in all that was around me just made me realize how lucky I am to be where I am in life, along with growing up in such an amazing region.
Other than your digital camera, what other essential items do you bring to a shoot?
You can always find me bringing my polaroid or film camera. Besides digital, I always have loved the idea of film and polaroid film because of the idea of capturing one perfect shot in the moment, a moment you can look back on later in a physical form with just one chance for the shot. When it comes to film, you can't just look at the photo and retake it. You just have to capture what you can and move on till later.
What do you like photographing the most?
When it comes to photography, I mostly love to shoot lifestyle, capturing people out on their journeys through life whether it's shreddin’ on the slopes, and traversing through the mountains and forest.
What has been your favorite adventure and what is your most recent adventure?
By far my favorite adventure would have to be the journey I took with my hometown friend across the country to Colorado. We traveled by car, driving through so many different states, seeing so many different things, just to arrive in Colorado to witness the killer mountain views, dense forests, and vast wildlife. Definitely a trip of a lifetime!
What's your favorite town/city in Upstate New York?
My favorite town is Woodstock, there are so many places to visit and things to do in that little town: from the tasty food and brews, to the many different shops to explore. Not too far from the town of Woodstock and just a small drive away is the Overlook mountain, which is one of the best hikes in the Catskill Mountain region with its spectacular panoramic views.
How do you achieve your #upstateofmind?
I achieve my Upstate of Mind by taking in all that the Upstate region has to offer: from the killer views, to the amazing towns, and cool people. The region has so much to offer with its rich culture and environment.
Any fun facts about yourself?
Some fun facts about me are that I'm an owner of many plants, I collect old vintage cameras for display along with shooting film, I plan on visiting every state (and taking my best shot in every state and making a print out of it), and I've never left the country.
